Films requesting shooting locations at any DePaul properties must provide a Project Number by going through the Production Office process.
Students are responsible for securing all locations and following the appropriate protocol for filming including contacting the space Managers as well as Public Safety, strictly following all guidelines outlined here:
Students must use a Production Office issued Project Number for shooting on location outside of their homes/ dorms. DePaul space managers and 25Live require this number as a reference.
Student IDs via the iDePaul app are required and should be always carried by all students on cast or crew of a shoot during filming on/in DePaul property. Students may be asked to supply IDs to Public Safety Officers at any time to verify student identity and credentials
Notify Public Safety at least three business days prior to filming, after permission has been granted by the Space Manager. Lack of proper notice may result in denial of request
Filming is prohibited on days/hours when buildings are closed, with exception for special permission from a faculty advisor, and Public Safety (fees may apply)
Filming must not interfere with the normal flow of traffic or campus safety. Exits cannot be obstructed, equipment and staging cannot create tripping hazards
The Production Office can help with any questions regarding these procedures. See below and following tabs for room options and the Appendix for a list of contacts for permission/ reservations.
Filming events taking place at the University inside buildings or within exterior campuses must follow strict processes. Students must request permission of the Space Manager via the University’s Student Filming/Photography Permission Form. Submission information is listed on the form (See Appendix for contact information for each space Manager and to notify the appropriate Public Safety department).
Students do not need permission to film exterior common areas on campus unless capturing University names/logos in the shot (see below), so long as filming does not interfere with the normal flow of traffic or campus safety. Exits cannot be obstructed; equipment and staging cannot create tripping hazards.
Students may reserve any room at DePaul University for meetings, casting, rehearsals, etc., depending on their availability and following the guidelines for the space. The same rules mentioned previously regarding obtaining a Project Number from the Production Office for your shoot apply.
