Insurance

Note:

  • Students are responsible for their own medical treatment and expenses during their course of study.

  • Student residences and student-owned property or equipment (including laptops, cell phones, tools, etc.) are not covered by university insurance. Responsibility remains with the individual student.

INSURING LOCATIONS
  • The University requires a Location Use Agreement for shooting at any location non-DePaul & non-student owned properties.

  • Insurance requests come through the Greenlighting Process. Please plan for at least 7 business days to process any insurance requests.

  • Producers must keep copies of all signed forms for at least two years after project completion and throughout the duration of the film’s distribution.

  • SCA release forms connect participants to the class project, as it relates to insurance.

  • This includes talent in class exercises where footage may be used outside the classroom (including online courses).

  • Filmmakers must complete required paperwork via the Greenlight Process. Equipment pickup will not be approved until all forms are submitted.

  • Producers must keep copies of all signed forms for at least two years after project completion and throughout the film’s distribution.

Crowded Scenes and Extras

  • When filming on DePaul property, if individual releases aren’t possible, post clear signage stating that filming is in progress and people may appear on camera.

  • Crews must respect requests from students, faculty, or staff who decline to be filmed/photographed.

For any insurance-related questions, please consult the Production Policies & Safety Standards section or contact the Production Office.
