Who can check out equipment?
If you’re a currently enrolled SCA student, you’re good to go! The Cage is here to help you bring your projects to life.
How much does it cost to check out equipment?
There is no cost to check out equipment. However, you are responsible for returning everything on time, clean, and in good condition. Late returns, missing items, or damaged gear may result in fines or replacement/repair charges.
I have a fine. Where do I pay?
Head to Cage Payment Portal and settle up online.
How do I reserve equipment?
Log in to the patron portal with your student credentials and snag the gear you need.
How long can I keep equipment?
Standard checkout is 2 business days (48 hours). Here’s the weekend trick:
Checked out Monday → return Wednesday
Checked out Thursday → return Monday (we’re closed on weekends)
Checked out Friday → return Tuesday
How far in advance can I book gear?
Up to 30 days in advance. Popular items go fast, so plan ahead!
Can I walk in and borrow gear without a reservation?
Not quite, reservations via the patron portal are required. You can reserve same-day gear, just give us a 4-hour heads-up.
Can I pick up my reserved gear early or late?
We love flexibility, but we also need to stay on schedule. Early pickup isn’t always possible during busy times, and arriving more than 30 minutes late may cancel your reservation. If you need adjustments, reach out to us first.
Repeated late returns may affect your checkout privileges.
Can I return my gear early or late?
Early is acceptable if necessary, but on-time is preferred. Our daily tasks get interrupted when returns are not on schedule. Please work with us to schedule a return time that works best for both you and us.
Can I lend my gear to a friend?
Nope! You’re responsible for all items checked out under your name. Remember: SCA production equipment is for DePaul projects only.
What if I break or lose something?
Accidents happen! Let us know ASAP, and we’ll work with you to fix it.
